Miracle of Equality

A silence that brings darkness.
A darkness that brings fear.
A fear that breeds hatred,
To those who choose to hear,
The voices that mock us,
The ones that have no shame.
The ones who feed this message.
The ones who place the blame.
They say they are the better ones
Who live their lives without
The fear of persecution and pain
By those who have no clout.
But who are they to judge us and
How are they to know
What its like to be the one
Who feels too shamed to show
Who they really are
And who we strive to be
And what its like to wait for
The miracle of equality.
