If you’re reading this, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. I am here to tell you about something I’ve been doing that’s been my little secret for the past two months. Okay, so it’s not MY secret, but you’ll be happy to know about it.
I have managed to lose 20lbs in two months and I have barely been exercising!! Not with Weight Watchers, not with pills, not with liposuction, but just by changing what I eat. Actually its what I’m not eating.
If you’ve ever watched Oprah, then you have heard of this. It’s called “You on A Diet”, but Dr. Roizen and Dr. Oz. The secret is soooo simple. All you do is eliminate five ingredients from your diet. Now pay attention.
From www.oprah.com
The first ingredient to avoid is hydrogenated oil, which often masquerades as partially hydrogenated oil. Dr. Roizen says we should also eliminate sugar and high fructose corn syrup from our foods. “We eat 63 pounds of [high fructose corn syrup] a year, which puts 33 pounds on the typical American,” he says.
Enriched flour is the fourth ingredient to avoid. “[Enriched] means they took all the good stuff out and put a little back,” Dr. Roizen says. In 1960, Americans didn’t use enriched flour, but today we consume 63 pounds a year, he says.
The fifth offenders are white foods—including bleached flour. The only white items you should have in your fridge are egg whites, cauliflower and fish, Dr. Roizen says.
A few things that has helped me with cravings are taking things like apples or nuts to work with me. This helps curb my cravings for something sweet or salty.
Another thing that’s helpful, but may take more time getting used to if you’ve never had it, is switching from red meat to soy products. Be careful of the amounts of sodium (water gain), but the products are typically 75% less fat than real chicken or beef.
I’m telling you people, this really works. But don’t think of it as a diet, think of it as a life change. Changing your eating habits can be hard, but these results can be within the first couple weeks!!
I’ve now ramped up my excersize routine…I had to ease into that one. I did what I was comfortable with at first, and then once I saw my waist shrinking, I got even more motivated and now I’m working out 3 days a week. I never would have imagined I’d do that!! But when you have people telling you on a daily basis how great and sexy you look (not to mention buying new clothes!), trust me, its all worth it!!
Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen have eaten this way almost their entire adult lives. Check out their pics below…they look like mid 40’s right, maybe early 50’s…..They’re in their late 60’s almost 70’s!! Now that’s called results!!
If you decide to try this…check in with me and let me know how its going.

Jennifer,
How are the new eating habits going? Have you started yet? It takes some time to get used to eating fresh foods and to stop eating the all the flour and sugar, but it gets easier.
For me, if you start to crave something sugary, try eating an orange, or something similar. It tends to give you that sweetness you crave. If you want something salty, try spicy! Adding something spicy to your diet, like Mrs. Dash helps that too.
Also, allow yourself to cheat! But within reason. I found that all the diets I’ve tried over the years never work because I push myself too fast. Start out at your own pace with the change in diet and with exercising. That’s worked best for me. I bet you’ll see results after the first two weeks!
Let me know how its going!
